Wedding Registry & Vietnamese Table-Greeting Custom
Greetings, Friends & Family,
We are so grateful for your presence in our lives. As we embark on this journey of matrimony, we are also deeply grateful for your blessings and contributions to our married life together. If you click on BUTTON at the bottom of this page, you'll be taken to our main registry site, which allows for both monetary and other gift offerings. At this time in our lives, when both of us are already well-settled in home life, we would especially appreciate financial gifts. Such gifts will help us to enjoy our planned mini 2-night honeymoon at a treehouse built for two nestled in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas in October 2014 and perhaps even go on a DREAM honeymoon to visit Ireland in the summer of 2015!
Please note that we will also be greeting tables at our wedding, per traditional Vietnamese custom. Here is a blurb from Wikipedia on this custom.
Traditional Vietnamese wedding gifts: Guests are expected to bring gifts, and it is traditionally in the form of money in an envelope. (NOTE: Envelopes are opened in private, by the Bride and Groom.) Immediate family, usually gives more money to the bride and groom. At one point during the reception, the bride and groom will go from table-to-table to thank guests for their blessings and sometimes collect the envelopes. Most couples however leave a box at the sign-in table for guests to drop in their envelopes and cards, although this is frowned upon by older traditional conservatives.
Again, we will be greeting each table during our reception and a photo will be taken at each table. We will also offer a bit of explanation about this custom before coming by, so that you can prepare by designating a speaker/representative for your table!
Love & Gratitude,
Nhien & Victor
If you are not able to join us in person but would like to know where to send a card or gift, please email us at [email protected] or call 650-888-3018 for our mailing address.
